Petrified Forest, AZ - To help all understand and enjoy Petrified Forest National Park, experts in their respective fields are being invited to share their knowledge and enthusiasm in a reinvigorated in-park 'speaker series'. Presentations are scheduled for the first Wednesday of every month, and last approximately one hour.
The next speaker of this 'speaker series' is Bob Audretsch. Bob is a distinguished (and now retired) park ranger, having served at Chaco Culture, Independence, and Grand Canyon National Parks. As an avid historian and writer, Bob has created a multimedia exhibit and authored several books about the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), most recently We Still Walk in Their Footprint: The Civilian Conservation Corps in Northern Arizona, 1933-1942 (Dog Ear Publishing, 2013). As such, Bob will present his research and findings regarding the CCC across Northern Arizona (to include Petrified Forest National Park) via a powerpoint presentation and lecture, with a book signing immediately following.
When: Wednesday June 5 2013, 10 am
Where: Community Building at Painted Desert Visitor Center (off I-40, exit 311)
Cost: Free to access the Painted Desert Visitor Center complex and this presentation. To continue into the park, a $10 entry fee applies.
All are welcome, and the Community Building is fully accessible.
