LAS VEGAS MAN DIES IN SCUBA INCIDENT
BOULDER CITY, Nev. - An adult male from Las Vegas died of unknown causes while scuba diving at Lake Mead National Recreation Area June 1.
At 8:54 a.m., the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interagency Communication Center received multiple 911 calls reporting that a diver was in distress.
The victim was diving with a group in the Kingman Wash area, which is located on the Arizona side of Lake Mead, just north of the Hoover Dam.
Witnesses said, when the diver surfaced, he was unresponsive. People aboard a bystander boat initiated CPR and transported the victim to Hemenway Harbor where emergency personnel from the National Park Service provided advanced life support care. They were unable to resuscitate the diver. He was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m.
National Park Service Rangers in conjunction with The Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner are investigating the incident.
The victim’s identity will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
