Accessibility improvements will begin at the Hosmer Grove Campground parking lots on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 and take approximately one month to complete. Work will begin at the upper parking lot (closest to the main park road) then proceed to the lower parking lot (closest to the grove).
At least one lot will be open throughout the construction period and there will always be access to area trails, the campground, and at least one rest room. The picnic shelter at Hosmer Grove will be closed while the lower lot is improved.
Accessibility improvement work in the summit area of Haleakalā is scheduled through September 2013. Visitors and residents should expect continued heavy construction traffic on Haleakalā Highway and Crater Road. For the latest updates please check www.nps.gov/hale or call 572-4400.
