BODY RECOVERED AT LAKE MEAD, JULY 3
BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The body of an adult male was recovered from Lake Mead July 3 in the area where a Chicago man went missing June 20. The Clark County Medical Examiner is in the process of verifying his identity.
At 8:40 a.m., National Park Service volunteers located the body floating on the surface of the lake near Castle Reef. Park rangers recovered the body.
Around 4 p.m. June 20, witnesses said Istvan Tibor Feichtner, 35, disappeared underwater near Painter’s Cove and Castle Reef after he went for a swim. They said he struggled in the high waves and was not wearing a lifejacket.
The National Park Service, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue and volunteers have conducted multiple surface and underwater searches for the missing man since June 20.
The National Weather Service is forecasting wind gusts between 18-29 mph at Lake Mead July 4 and 5. Visitors are always encouraged to where lifejackets while swimming in the lake, especially when gusty winds are forecast.
