PHILADELPHIA-The Benjamin Franklin Museum in Independence National Historical Park will open for Museum Preview days starting on Aug. 24, 2013, after a two year rehabilitation project.

The Friends of Independence National Historical Park will host a Grand Opening reception on September 19.Until then, visitors are welcome, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., starting on August 24. The museum will be open with no fee for the National Park Service's Founders Weekend, marking the anniversary of the founding of the National Park Service, August 24 and 25. A unit of the National Park Service, Independence National Historical Park was created by an Act of Congress on June 28, 1948.Accredited by the American Association of Museums, Independence NHP covers almost 54 acres in Philadelphia's Old City, and includes Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Congress Hall, Franklin Court, and other historic buildings associated with the founding of the United States.
