Point Reyes Station, CA - Point Reyes National Seashore is open to visitors today. Visitors can access public areas and roads immediately while facilities and other public services are brought back online. Point Reyes National Seashore has been closed since October 1 due to the lapse in Congressional appropriations.
"We are excited to be back at work and welcome visitors to Point Reyes National Seashore, " said Superintendent Cicely Muldoon. "The fall is a particularly special season to enjoy all that Point Reyes National Seashore has to offer. From historic dairy and beef ranches and the lighthouse to bugling tule elk and migrating shorebirds."
All trails, trailheads, beaches, parking lots, and regular visitor center hours are open as of today. Additionally, park programs for the public and school children as well as volunteer programs are back on. Park partnerships are also back in full swing, and concessions operations are operating again. The Seashore hosts more than 8,000 visitors daily and contributes more than $250,000 per day to the local economy.
Limantour Road is closed Mondays through Fridays until the end of October for repairs to damaged culverts.
