Catoctin Mountain Park and the Catoctin Forest Alliance Invite Volunteers to Join in a Day of Service May 10
The Catoctin Forest Alliance, a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of the Catoctin Mountain forest and a primary partner to Catoctin Mountain Park, has announced a "Day of Service" at Catoctin Mountain Park at Camp Greentop on May 10th. The event will be held from 9:00 am till 3:00 pm. Volunteers will be given the opportunity to participate in trail maintenance, invasive species removal, cabin staining, and general park maintenance projects under the direction of National Park Service personnel and Catoctin Forest Alliance members. Youth from age 12 and up as well as adults interested in the preservation and maintenance of the park are invited to join in this great opportunity to earn service hours or to simply give back to their community. Scout and other service organizations are encouraged to participate as groups.
The event will be start at 9:00 a.m. and end with pizza provided by the Catoctin Forest Alliance at
3:00 p.m. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in the entire event but can work a shorter time period if desired. Participants should dress appropriately for the assigned task and bring water, snacks and lunch. Advance registration is appreciated.
