Ventura, CA - Channel Islands National Park is participating in a special coast-to-coast singing celebration of Star-Spangled Banner Bicentennial on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 1:00 pm.

The Gold Coast Concert Chorus in Ventura County will lead the event singing the national anthem under the American flag at the Chanel Islands National Park Robert J. Lagomarsino Visitor Center in Ventura Harbor.

The public is invited and encouraged to add their voice to the largest group sing of our national anthem in history.

The National Park Service and many others institutions across the county are partnering with the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History to sponsor this national synchronized singing celebration called "Raise it Up! Anthem for America.

"The Star-Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key after he was inspired seeing the American flag fly over Fort McHenry signaling American defeat of the British during the War of 1812 Battle of Baltimore.
