TWO BODIES RECOVERED AT LAKES MEAD, MOHAVE

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Two bodies have been recovered at Lake Mead National Recreation Area in areas where two men went missing July 20.

At 4:52 p.m. Aug. 1, the Lake Mead Interagency Communication Center received a call from a visitor reporting a body was seen floating near river mile 44 on Lake Mohave. Rangers responded and recovered the body of an adult male from the Nevada shoreline.

A 53-year-old Las Vegas man was reported missing near this area around river mile 46 July 20 after jumping off his boat to go swimming without a life jacket. The Clark County Medical Examiner will confirm the victim’s identity and determine his cause of death.

Around 11:30 a.m. Aug. 4, volunteers form Earth Resource Group, using advanced underwater equipment, located a body 340-feet underwater near Lake Mead’s Boulder Islands. National Park Service rangers, Nevada Department of Wildlife game wardens and volunteers recovered the body.

A 25-year-old Las Vegas man was reported missing in this area after swimming without a life jacket July 20. The Clark County Medical Examiner will confirm the victim’s identity and determine his cause of death.

Both incidents are under investigation.
