DENALI PARK, Alaska: DenaliNational Park and Preserve is seeking applications from accomplished artists

artists and writers use an historic roadside cabin as a base to explore andseek inspiration from the park. Each resident conducts a public outreach

activity or demonstration for visitors, and donates one piece of art to theprogram collection. Pieces are

displayed in park visitor centers, the Anchorage Public Lands Information Center, and the Fairbanks Public Lands Information Center. An online gallery and

writers anthology is available at https://www.nps.gov/dena/historyculture/arts-program.htm.

Applications for 2015 residencies must be submitted by Sept. 30, 2014. A description of the online application process is at https://www.nps.gov/dena/historyculture/arts-program-apply.htm.Applications are reviewed each fall by panels

of jurors and program advisors. Formal invitations and notifications will be made by Dec. 15, 2014.

Winter residents are based primarily at park headquarters for ten days during the month of March. Conditions permitting, the residency may include overnights at a patrol cabin located along the first 35 miles of the Denali Park Road.Summer artists-in-residence stay at the

East Fork cabin, located at Mile 43, for ten-day periods between June and mid-September.

The Artist-in-Residence program is a national program. Artists have played a significant role in raising public awareness of the natural wonders

preserved within the National Park System and the need for their protection since the creation of Yellowstone, the first national park. This is the 14th

year of Denali's program. Starting in 2015, applications will also be accepted in music composition for a new annual residency beginning in 2016.
