A storm system in the north central region of the Pacific Ocean is generating large swells that will lead to large breakers along the shoreline. This will result in high surf conditions along the coast for most of Friday through Saturday evening.
Surf will be anywhere from 7 to 9 feet initially then increasing to 10 to 12 feet.
Increased waves washing up on beaches and washing over large rocks can be erratic and unpredictable. Use extreme caution if walking on beaches and stay clear from the surf zone. These large waves will be capable of sweeping people or dogs into the cold and turbulent ocean waters. High surf can often times be associated with riptides. If you are ever caught in a riptide, do not swim against it. Swim parallel to shore until you are free of the current.
Be sure to always have your eyes on the ocean.
