Free Entrance to Point Park on Presidents Day Weekend - 2015

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Jan. 30, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

Lookout Mountain, TN: Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is pleased to announce the waiver of entrance fees to Point Park, atop Lookout Mountain, from Saturday, February 14 through Monday, Feb. 16, 2015. Experience the majestic views of Chattanooga's surrounding landscape from our nation's first national military park.

The three days that park entrance fees are waived provide a great opportunity for visitors to learn about the importance of Chattanooga as it related to one of our nation's presidents -Ulysses S. Grant. In 1863, General Grant was transferred to the city in order to ensure it did not fall into Confederate hands. Why was Chattanooga so important during the Civil War? We encourage you to find out by visiting YOUR national park atop Lookout Mountain.
