Discover Winter Birds at the Great Backyard Bird Count

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Feb. 6, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

Join us on Saturday, February 14thfrom 9:30AM to 11:30 AM for the Great Backyard Bird Count and get involved as a citizen scientist! Thousands of people worldwide contribute to scientific research about bird populations and critical issues affecting birds. We'll begin the program indoors with basic bird identification techniques, using binoculars and field guides, and learn a few common birds in our area. We'll then head to the nature trail (weather permitting) for a chance to see and hear birds in their natural habitats, so please dress to be outdoors. Our data will be entered into the GBBC website, and you'll learn how you can submit your own bird observations at home.

Bring binoculars and a field guide if you have them.
