Potential Suicide Victim Discovered at South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon, Ariz.At approximately 5:45 a.m. the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center received a call alerting officials to a potential suicide.

Responding staff conducting an initial Hasty Search did not identify a potential victim. Subsequent search by the National Park Service Helitak crew identified a body below the rim. Due to weather conditions, terrain, and safety concerns teams will complete a recovery tomorrow morning.

An investigation in the incident is being conducted by the National Park Service. No further information is available at this time.
