The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on May 12, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

The Natchez Trace Parkway presented an award for 40 years of federal service to Property Management Specialist Mary Brown.

Mary Brown’s federal service began in 1971 as an active duty military member of the United States Army. She also worked for the United States Postal Service and then was hired at the Parkway in 1989 as a Supply Clerk. Brown’s current position as the Property Management Specialist encompasses all aspects of Parkway property purchases and accountability. She manages approximately 1500 items in inventory valued at $6.4 million dollars.

“It isn’t often that we get the opportunity to celebrate a milestone such as this with an employee," stated Superintendent Mary Risser. “Mary’s humble and self-less dedication to our country and the National Park Service is greatly appreciated. "
