BOULDER CITY, Nevada -The body of an adult male was recovered near Morning Star Cove on Lake Mohave June 4.
At 3:52 p.m. June 4, the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interagency Communication Center received a call from a witness who stated that an 18-year-old male disappeared underwater while swimming across the cove with a friend. Winds had reached around 20 miles-per-hour, and waves were estimated to be six to 12 inches high. The victim was not wearing a life jacket.
The National Park Service responded to the scene and began an immediate search. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue Dive Team was called in to assist and recovered the body.
The Clark County Medical Examiner will confirm the victim's identity and determine his cause of death. The incident is under investigation.
