BEACH LAKE, PA -Come discover your inner "Rail Fan" on Sunday, August 23rd at 2:00pm at the Zane Grey Museum in Lackawaxen, PA. The Erie Railroad brought economic prosperity to the Delaware River Valley, and traces of the rail company's impact on the area can still be seen today. This program will draw connections between the history of the railroad and important historical figures from the area, including Zane Grey!
The Centennial Volunteer Ambassador for Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River will be giving a living history program on the scandalous past of the Erie Railroad and New York's wealthy elite, who fueled a flourishing tourism industry along the Delaware River.
The old Erie Railroad line runs along the Delaware River, and there are several beautiful Erie Railroad bridges in the area. Make sure to bring your camera to the event, and take some pictures to enter in the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River's 2015 photo contest!
The Story of the Erie Railroad program is part of a summer-long series of educational programs. The last two programs this summer will be a canoe demonstration on August 29th and a program on Bald Eagles onSeptember 12th.
