Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Parks

Prepare for Reopening Following Tropical Storm Erika

HOMESTEAD, KEY WEST: Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Parks are preparing to open to visitation following the passage of Tropical Storm Erika. OnMonday, Aug. 31, Everglades National Park's entrance gates and visitor centers will be open to the public at10 a.m., and concessions will be operational at10:00 a.m.or shortly after. Concessions at Dry Tortugas National Park will be operational at the start of business on Tuesday, September 1.

In the interest of public safety, based on weather forecasts about the approach of Tropical Storm Erika, both parks were closed to visitors on Saturday, August 29 at 6 p.m. An on-the-ground safety assessment has provided initial reports that both parks were not significantly impacted by Tropical Storm Erika. Damage from winds, surge and flooding appear minimal.
