Hog hunting season opens Saturday, Sept. 26, in Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. Come participate in a 45 minute informative program about this nonnative species; find out how hogs got in the park and why the Big South Fork is one of the very few national parks that allows them to be hunted. Meet Ranger Mary Grimm at 9:30 a.m. (ET) at the Bandy Creek Amphitheater. Wildlife Technician Shane Kinsey and Law Enforcement Ranger Tom Barnes will be present to answer any questions about the current status of hogs in the park and hunting regulation. Park hog hunting permits can be obtained at Bandy Creek Visitor Center, Park Headquarters, or online for $5.00. In case of rain, the program will be at the Bandy Creek Visitor Center.
