The Obed Wild and Scenic River announces a Civil War lecture and book signing on Saturday, November 7, beginning at 1 p.m. (ET). Dr. Aaron Astor of Maryville College will speak about the Civil War and how it affected Morgan County, Tennessee. Dr. Astor is the author of the book The Civil War in the Cumberland Plateau, and he will be on hand to sign copies of his book following his lecture. Also featured during this program will be a variety of reproduction Civil War artifacts, on loan from Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This special event commemorates both Veterans Day and the 152nd anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
