Headquarters Visitor Center to Re-open on Wednesday, February 24

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Feb. 17, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

The Headquarters Visitor Center, located at 7000 feet of elevation, will re-open on Wednesday, February 24. Hours are from 8am to 3:45pm daily. Backcountry permits will be available inside this building from 8am to 3pm daily.

Headquarters Visitor Center closed in late September 2015 for roof replacement, seismic and structural repairs, and entrance renovations. The building was originally scheduled for a two-month closure. During the renovations, however, a storm blew off the temporary roof and caused extensive flooding inside the building, resulting in numerous additional repairs.

"We appreciate the patience of our visitors, partners, and the local community as these extensive repairs and renovations were done. We look forward to re-opening the building," said superintendent Natalie Gates.
