Public Information Officer Selected for New York

Sergeant David Somma has been selected as the Public Information Officer for the United States Park Police New York Field Office. Sergeant Somma is a 25 year veteran and has served most of his career in New York. Sergeant Somma has been awarded the Department of the Interior Medal of Valor, the United States Park Police Award of Merit, and three Life Saving Awards, and the New York Daily News Hero Award. Sergeant Somma is currently assigned to the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island National Monument and Museum.

All press inquiries shall be directed to Sergeant Somma, in the greater New York Area. The United States Park Police primary area of jurisdiction includes Gateway National Recreation Area (GNRA), The Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island National Monument and Museum. GNRA is located between Brooklyn and Queens, as well as parts of the Rockaway Peninsula and includes parts of Breezy Point as well as three parks located in Staten Island.
