New Moon Stargazing at Wahweap 2016

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area will be hosting New Moon Stargazing events at the Wahweap Campground Amphitheater. Events will take place on Friday evenings closest to the new moon, when skies are at their darkest and stars are at their brightest.

Meet at the Wahweap Campground Amphitheater at the following times, weather permitting:

Friday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m. MST

Friday, June 3 at 8 p.m. MST

Friday, July 1 at 8 p.m. MST

Friday, July 29 at 7:30 p.m. MST

Friday, September 2 at 6:00 p.m. MST

"Take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life and join local astronomy enthusiasts for a night of telescope viewing," said Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Acting Superintendent Billy Shott. "What better way to spend a Friday night than partying with the stars?"

Dark skies and abundant stars over Glen Canyon National Recreation Area offer premier stargazing.Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is located at the heart of the Colorado Plateau, which boasts some of the darkest skies on earth.
