Celebrate International Picnic Day by discovering your national park. Pack your picnic lunch and join us for a fun day appreciating the great outdoors and 100 years of the National Park Service. Participate in an atlatl demonstration, take a tour of Mound City or roast marshmallows with a ranger. Kids of all ages can find out how they can earn the park's Junior Ranger badge and the Centennial Junior Ranger badge. The first 25 families to visit will receive a special picnic gift (limit one per family). All programs are free.
Schedule of Programs:
11am -build your own spear and atlatl. Spear throwing demonstrations to follow. For ages 8 and up. Supplies provided for children. Adults 18 and over can purchase atlatl kits in the park bookstore. Class size limited to 25. Pre-registration required by Friday, June 17. Call the park to sign up: 740-774- 1126.
12-2pm -Atlatl demonstrations and s'mores around the camp fire.
