Weekend Shuttle Service to Sagamore Hill to Begin on June 18

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on June 16, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

This summer, Sagamore Hill National Historic Site is partnering with local community organizations to provide a free shuttle connecting people to parks. On weekends from June 18 until Labor Day, vans will travel to and from Theodore Roosevelt's home on Long Island, nearby Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) stations, and downtown Oyster Bay. This service is made possible through the generous support of the Life Enrichment Center and The WaterFront Center, both in Oyster Bay.

On Saturdays and Sundays, the first shuttle meets visitors at the Long Island Railroad Station in Syosset at 10:17 a.m. and arrives at Sagamore Hill in time for the 11:00 a.m tour. The last shuttle leaves Sagamore Hill at 5:15 p.m. and arrives at Syosset train station in time for the 5:47 p.m. train to Penn Station.

Visitors can also use this shuttle to reach the Derby-Hall bandstand, Oyster Bay LIRR station, and The WaterFront Center, all located in historic Oyster Bay.

"This is a new partnership that benefits visitors, the community, and park partners," said Superintendent Kelly Fuhrmann. "More weekend visitors coming from LIRR stations will benefit local communities economically, and transportation services will help connect visitors and community members to opportunities at The WaterFront Center and the hamlet of Oyster Bay."

The park encourages visitors using this service to make tour reservations at recreation.gov.
