Hiker Fatality at Ooh Aah Point on South Kaibab Trail at Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon, Ariz.-On Friday, July 8, 2016 Park Rangers responded to a call from hikers on the South Kaibab Trail reporting a woman who fell from Ooh Aah Point. Responding Rangers located the body of Colleen Burns, 35 of Orlando, FL approximately 400 feet below Ooh Aah Point.

Ms. Burns had been hiking and taking photographs with friends for sunrise when she accidentally stepped off the edge of the trail. Ooh Aah Point is approximately one mile down the South Kaibab Trail.

An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner. No additional information is available at this time.
