BOULDER CITY, Nevada - The following events are happening at Lake Mead National Recreation Area Nov. 19 - Dec. 11

Ranger Event: Valley of Fire Classic Car Show, Nov 19

Join a ranger Nov. 19 at the Valley of Fire State Park for the 7th Annual Classic Car Show. Prizes will be given in a number of car categories and food will be available to purchase from a local Boy Scout troop. Lake Mead rangers will provide information and maps about fun things to do at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. For more information, call 702-397-2088.

Ranger Chat: Leave No Trace, Nov 19

Stop by the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Nov. 19 to learn about a variety of Leave No Trace steps to follow while having fun at Lake Mead National Recreation Area and in the Mojave Desert. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Ranger Chat: Outdoor Fun - A Child’s Nature Perspective, Nov 20

BBSC Las Vegas Turkey Trot, Nov 24

Around 850 athletes will race through Lake Mead National Recreation Area Nov. 24 along the Historic Railroad and River Mountains Loop trails for the annual Turkey Trot. Ranger Hike: Majestic Canyon, Nov 26

Ranger Chat: The Mojave Desert: A Magical Land, Nov 27

Stop by the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Nov. 27 to learn about this vibrant desert home. From the desert bighorn sheep found in the rugged mountains to the smallest beavertail cactus, life is abundant and thriving in what many think is a barren landscape. National Park Treasures: Celebrating Conservation, Dec 3

Join Scott Abella, a UNLV ecology professor from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Lake Mead Visitor Center as he shares the stories of conservation challenges and successes of the National Park Service restoration efforts over the past 100 years. His work as a researcher has supported Lake Mead and other parks throughout the Southwest. Scott is the author of “Conserving America’s National Parks." He will sign books after each half-hour presentation. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Ranger Hike: Liberty Bell Arch, Dec 3

Join a ranger for a moderate six-mile hike Dec. 3. The hike passes the remains of an old WWII-era mine before reaching a natural arch and a Colorado River overlook. For more information and to make a reservation, call 702-293-8990.

Parade of Lights, Dec 3

Around 25 boats adorned with lights and holiday decorations will participate in the annual Lake Mead Boating Association's Parade of Lights Dec. 3. Decorated boats will be on display at Las Vegas Boat Harbor and Lake Mead Marina from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Visitors can vote for their favorite decorations. At 6:30 p.m., the boats will depart the marinas and parade across the Boulder Basin. Visitors can watch the departure from the marinas or view the parade from Boulder Beach. Make s'mores at park headquarters, Dec 3

Join park rangers in making s'mores at Lake Mead National Recreation Area park headquarters, 601 Nevada Way, Boulder City, from 4:30-6 p.m. during the Boulder City Santa's Electric Night Parade. The "s'mores making team" will provide marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate. The parade will include National Park Service vehicles and employees. For more information, call 702-293-8990.

Run Laughlin Half Marathon and 5K, Dec 3

Around 300 athletes will race through Lake Mead National Recreation Area Dec. 3 for the 2nd annual Run Laughlin Half Marathon and 5K. The route travels along Davis Dam and Katherine Landing roads within the park. Visitors to Lake Mead may experience delays. Holiday Open House, Dec 10

Join rangers at the Lake Mead Visitor Center for its annual Holiday Open House from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 10. Enjoy the Desert Discovery Center and ranger chats throughout the day. Ranger Hike: St. Thomas, Dec 10

BBSC Hover Dam Marathon, Dec 10

Around 600 athletes will race through Lake Mead National Recreation Area Dec. 10 starting at Boulder Beach and running along the River Mountains Loop and Historic Railroad trails. Callville Bay Dock of Lights, Dec 10

Visit Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy hot chocolate and stroll along the dock to see boats decorated with holiday lights at the annual Dock of Lights at Callville Bay Dec. 10.
