Cohill Station Bridge Replacement

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Nov. 23, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

Hancock, MD- The Cohill Station Pedestrian Bridge will be closed between Nov. 29, 2016 and December 9, 2016. During this time, NPS maintenance staff will be replacing sections of the wood decking and surface coating the steel to defend against the elements. The bridge is located at mile marker 131.03, just outside of Hancock, MD. This structure is a wood and steel I-beam construction bridge, 5 feet wide by 65 feet in length, that is essential for hikers, bikers and kayakers to access the Potomac River.

Access to the towpath will be available through the canal prism. The towpath will not be closed.

As always, we strive to reduce the impact on park visitors. We thank you for your patience during this time of essential repairs.
