“Summer is around the corner and we’re excited to welcome visitors to the park and invite everyone to join our free ranger-guided programs," says Chief of Interpretation Lori Rome. The Capitol Reef National Park Visitor Center will be open 8:00 am to 6:00 pm daily starting Sunday May 21, 2017. Enjoy the exhibits, park movie and the Capitol Reef Natural History Association bookstore.
Free ranger-guided programs will be offered including a daily geology talk at 10:00 am and daily archeology programs at 3:00 pm. As staffing allows, nightly evening programs will be offered at the campground amphitheater typically 1 hour after sunset. Other special programs may be offered including a Moon Walk, Star Talk, Ranger-Guided hike, and Schoolhouse Talk. Check the visitor center for start times and locations.
The historic Gifford House, located 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the visitor center on the Scenic Drive, will be open 8:00 am to 6:00 pm daily starting Sunday May 21, 2017.
