Summer Teacher Workshop in Olympic National Park

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on July 7, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Teachers are invited to join NatureBridge and the National Park Service for Learning from a Distance, a four-day summer workshop in Olympic National Park to be held August 7-10. Participants will hear from National Park Service rangers and researchers, discover the rich resources Olympic National Park has to offer, and learn ways to connect students to the park via technology.

The workshop will be held at the NatureBridge campus in Olympic National Park located on the shores of Lake Crescent. The tuition for the workshop is $200. The National Park Service will provide free clock hours and 100% tuition reimbursement with course completion and submission of a lesson plan. Participants will:

* Learn about technology that will connect students in the classroom to a wealth of educational opportunities available through Olympic National Park.

* Collaborate with grade level peers in creating classroom content to use with Olympic National Park's distance learning programs.

* Explore different Olympic National Park ecosystems that may include the Hoh Rain Forest, Ruby Beach, and Hurricane Ridge.

* Learn about robust curriculum connections to park cultural and natural resources.
