Construction work to rebuild the front porch roof at the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Center will begin Monday, September 11. The porch roof collapsed over the winter and the facility operated without the roof for the summer 2017 season.

Beginning Sept. 11, the hiker staging area and restroom, front porch area, library, and surrounding aspen grove will be closed to the public. Visitors will still be able to access the preserve center and parking lot restroom during this time. Hikers will also be able to access the preserve’s trail system via a rerouted trail. The trail reroute increases the one-way distance between the preserve parking lot and Phelps Lake by about a half-mile.

The preserve center will remain open as scheduled through Sunday, September 24. After that time, the construction zone will be closed to the public, though the parking lot and rerouted trail will remain open.

For additional information about activities and services within Grand Teton National Park or the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway, please visit the park's website at nps.gov/grandteton, stop by any visitor center, or call 307.739.3300.
