On Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, the Tour of the Moon recreational bicycle ride will travel through Colorado National Monument. The touring cyclists will travel over Rim Rock Drive, entering the Monument at the west entrance near Fruita and exiting onto Monument Road in Grand Junction. Cyclists will be limited to east bound lane. Event organizers are anticipating the 2,000 cyclists will be riding in the Monument from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Colorado National Monument and all facilities will remain open to the public during the cycling event. There will be no road restrictions, however, National Park Service staff are encouraging visitors and those wishing to view the event to enter the monument at the east entrance. Use of the west bound lane will allow motor vehicles to stay clear of the participating cyclists.

Safety Advisory: All vehicle traffic is asked to travel east to west on Rim Rock Drive to avoid congestion. Motorists and bicyclists are asked to travel cautiously around curves and always obey the speed limit.
