Yockanookany Trail Closure

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Jan. 19, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

RIDGELAND, MS: Due to safety concerns with trail bridges, the Yockanookany section of the Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail is closed to equestrian use. Horseback riders should observe posted closures and caution is advised on all trails. “We are working to acquire the needed funding to repair several trail bridges, but some may not be safe for horses," stated Chief of Resource Management Lisa McInnis. The trail will remain open to pedestrian users.

Parkway officials are planning for crews to continue bridge replacements and make general trail repairs. For additional information about this project and the Parkway, please call (800) 305-7417.
