Seneca Falls, NY-- Women’s Rights National Historical Park (NHP) is pleased to announce plans for Convention Days 2018 and is currently welcoming community input and participation from area organizations, businesses, and community members. 2018 offers a unique opportunity to explore the power of words with the 225th birthday of the reformer, orator, and preacher, Lucretia Mott; the bicentennial of Frederick Douglass; and the 170th anniversary of the First Women’s Rights Convention. This year’s theme, “You have pens and voices," comes from an 1841 call to action by Lucretia Mott. The assortment of events will take place July 20-22, 2018.
Convention Days has been a signature event for many years at Women’s Rights NHP and in the communities of Seneca Falls and Waterloo, New York. This annual event allows the park to engage with the local communities and visitors through speakers, art, living history, and other special programs commemorating the 1848 Women’s Rights Convention. As the team at Women’s Rights NHP develops this year’s commemoration, we are placing a special emphasis on broadening our reach to community members of all ages and backgrounds. A successful event is only possible with the active engagement of the residents of Seneca Falls, Waterloo, and the surrounding area.
We welcome collaboration in park programming and encourage concurrent events within the community to take place on or around Convention Days.
