Starting July 8 until approximately Aug. 11, National Park Service (NPS) contractors will be on-site at Spring Creek Park conducting field activities associated with the NPS Comprehensive Environmental, Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) response action.

WHAT: Field Investigation Activities

WHERE: Spring Creek Park, Howard Beach, NY

WHEN: July 8- Aug. 11, 2018

WHO: Gateway National Recreation Area

NOTE: During the investigation, NPS contractors will install approximately 30 groundwater monitoring wells across the site, gather soil samples from an additional nine locations, as well as, collect surface water samples. All samples will be collected from within the Spring Creek Park boundary with the exception of five surface water samples from manholes located immediately adjacent to Spring Creek. All environmental samples will be analyzed for both chemical and radiological compounds.

Spring Creek will be open during investigation activities. However, an exclusion zone will be established around active sample collection areas.
