National Park Service Suspends Search for Overboard Passenger

BARTLETT COVE, AK, 7:00PM AKDT - The National Park Service (NPS) suspended its search today for a 69 year old male passenger overboard from the Holland America Ship Westerdam since early Friday morning. The individual was reported missing at 3:50PM Friday when he did not appear for a medical appointment on board. The NPS was notified at 7:30PM Friday after a ship-wide search confirmed that the passenger was absent.

National Park Service vessel-based and airborne searches, supported by the US Coast Guard, yielded no signs of the missing passenger.

A Coast Guard investigation into this incident is anticipated.
