Rome, NY - On Saturday, June 25, Fort Stanwix National Monument is hosting Junior Ranger Day. Offered at national parks across the country, the Junior Ranger program encourages children to explore, learn about, and protect their favorite parks. This free event begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.

The theme of the day is: “Past Tales, New Discoveries." Children of all ages, and their families, are welcome to come and discover the sights, sounds, and even smells of the 18th Century. This will include music, scavenger hunts, and more.

“The best part about Junior Rangers is that anyone can become one, and you can do it more than once," said Park Ranger Arielle Goellner, “There are so many cool parks and stories to discover and we invite you to start at Fort Stanwix."

The next event happening at Fort Stanwix is “PACT First Friday," on September 7. Activities will include: kite flying on the park lawn from 5 to 7 p.m.; an international dance and song presentation by the Midtown Utica Community Center at 7 p.m.; and Family Films at the Fort: “Coco" (rated PG), at 8 p.m. A full schedule of park events can be found on www.nps.gov/fost. All park events are free.

Fort Stanwix National Monument is open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the park is free. For more information about upcoming events, please call the park at (315) 338-7730.
