The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking applications from individuals and groups interested in performing at the National Christmas Tree throughout December on the Ellipse in President’s Park.
From Wednesday, December 5 through Saturday, Dec. 22, musical entertainment featuring performances by volunteer choirs, bands and dancers will be held nightly on the Ellipse stage. There will be no performances held on December 10th or 17th.
Generally, performances run Tuesday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Weekday performance times have the greatest availability.
More information and the application form is available on the park’s website. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Family friendly performances must be holiday themed and no more than 30 minutes long. The stage (30 feet wide by 21 feet deep) is not covered and is exposed to the elements. Groups must be under 100.
A professional sound technician is available to assist with set up before the performance. They provide the music equipment including hard-wired microphones and stands, speakers and amplifiers and a piano. Music stands, chairs and risers are also available for performers.
For additional questions or clarifications about the National Christmas Tree music program, please call the NPS’s White House Visitor Center at 202-208-1631 or email e-mail us.
