BOULDER CITY, Nevada - The following Lake Mead National Recreation Area events are happening Dec. 1 to 25.
Boulder City Holiday Parade, Dec 1
Join rangers and volunteers at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 1 as they participate in the Boulder City Santa’s Electric Night parade. Stop by the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Headquarters for s’mores during the parade. For more information, call 702-293-8990.
42nd Annual Christmas Parade of Lights, Dec 1
Up to 50 boats decorated in holiday spirit will parade from Lake Mead Marina across the Boulder Basin of Lake Mead Dec. 1. Spectators can view the boats from the docks or along Boulder Beach. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m.
Parade of Lights Cruise, Dec. 1
Experience Lake Mead's Parade of Lights from the comfort of the Desert Princess, a Mississippi-style paddlewheeler with climate-controlled enclosed decks and an open-air top deck. Holiday Open House, Dec 8
Join rangers from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Lake Mead Visitor Center for the annual Holiday Open House. Enjoy the desert discovery center and learn about public lands throughout the day. Dock of Lights, Dec 8
Celebrate the holidays at Callville Bay Marina from 4:30-6 p.m. Dec. 8 at the annual Dock of Lights. Stroll down the docks and experience a Winter Wonderland of holiday scenes with lights and “Santa's Village at the North Pole." A holiday buffet dinner will be available along with a DJ.
BBSC Hover Dam Marathon, Dec 9
Around 700 athletes will race through Lake Mead National Recreation Area Dec. 9. Visitors to Lake Mead may experience delays along Lakeshore Road. To view the course map or for more information on this permitted event, visit https://www.bbscrun.com/hoover-dam-marathon.
Lighting at the Landing, Dec 15
Enjoy the holiday festivities at Katherine Landing Dec. 15 at the Lighting at the Landing. Staring at 5 p.m., boats and docks will be decorated with holiday cheer. Enjoy pictures with Santa, holiday music played by a high school band and a Christmas movie on the lawn. Food and beverages will be available. Ranger Chat: Public Lands-Treasures of Southern Nevada, Dec 16
Join rangers at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Lake Mead Visitor Center to learn about the variety of public lands that surround the Las Vegas Valley. For more information, call 702-293-8990.
River Rafting with Santa, Dec 24
Raft the Colorado River with Santa Claus and his helpers on Christmas Eve. The smooth-water river adventure departs at 10 a.m. and takes around 4 ½ hours. A gift from Santa and lunch along the beach are included. At the end of the trip, enjoy cookies and hot chocolate with holiday music at Willow Beach Marina.
