Haleakalā National Park Waives Entrance Fees December 5, to Honor Former President George H. W. Bush

Wednesday, December 5, 2018 has been designated a National Day of Mourning in memory of President George H.W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States. Haleakalā National Park will waive entrance fees for all park visitors. Visitor centers, campgrounds, and restrooms will be open. Sunrise reservations are required for sunrise viewing at the summit.

National parks are reminders of the American values, ideals, and freedoms. Dozens of national park units, including birthplaces, homes, and monuments, commemorate the service of American leaders, including many U.S. presidents.
