Visitor Fatality in Haleakalā National Park

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Dec. 17, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

On Dec. 15, 2018, a 63-year old woman suffered a medical emergency near the Haleakalā Visitor Center. She was initially treated by Haleakalā National Park rangers. Emergency medical personnel responded and took over treatment. The woman was pronounced deceased at approximately 11 am.
