Park to Commemorate the Battle of Fort Pulaski with Living History Event

SAVANNAH, GA - Travel back to 1862 as Fort Pulaski National Monument hosts a special living history event to commemorate the 157th anniversary of the battle for the fort. Living historians will garrison the fort on Saturday and Sunday, April 13 & 14, and will recreate many aspects of daily life at the Civil War post. A variety of programs will be offered throughout the weekend allowing visitors the opportunity to learn about and experience the fort life in 1862.

The fort will be garrisoned by living historians portraying both Confederate and Federal troops. You’ll witness activities like the mail call, company drill, musket firings, and cannon firings. You’ll even have the chance to play some Civil War baseball. Programs will also be offered that look at weapons technologies and the battle in depth. Head to Fort Pulaski this weekend for this special up-close look at the battle for the fort.

Fort Pulaski National Monument is located on U.S. Highway 80, 15 miles east of Savannah. Hours of operation are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. seven days a week. An entrance fee of $10.00 per person is charged for visitors 16 years old and older. You can follow the park on
