21-year-old Texas man drowns at Little Niagara

Sulphur, Okla. - On the afternoon of Thursday, March 28, 2019 a 21-year-old Texas man went missing from his party while swimming in the creek beneath Little Niagara Falls at Chickasaw National Recreation Area. His companions searched the area, including hiking nearby trails, in an attempt to locate him. Once they returned to Little Niagara they located the missing man beneath the water, called for help at 3:15 pm and began CPR.

NPS rangers, Sulphur Fire, Sulphur Police, Sulphur EMS, the Murray County Sherriff Department and Chickasaw Nation Light Horse officers all responded to the scene and continued resuscitation attempts. The patient was transported to Arbuckle Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:15 pm. He was later transferred to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
