Winner of the 2019 Quilt Display

Winner of the 2019 Quilt Display

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Sept. 2, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

Louise Scott designed and made the wildflower designs, then hand embroidered them. She created two of these quilts exactly alike. The first quilt was for a benefit auction. Louise loved the quilt so much, she made another one exactly like the first. This second quilt is owned by her niece Sue Smith. Louise turned 103 years old this summer.

The winning entry had 32 votes. Next favorite quilt was the sunflower quilt made by Vicky Taber with 25 votes. Two hundred seven visitors voted in the show and well over 800 people saw these beautiful masterpieces over the Labor Day holiday weekend. Thank you to all the quilters and to all the visitors who came out to see our annual quilt display.
