International Observe the Moon Night at Homestead National Monument of America

Homestead National Monument of America’s Heritage Center gates will be open through the night, Saturday, October 5, 2020 in honor of International Observe the Moon Night. International Observe the Moon Night is an annual worldwide public event that encourages observation and appreciation of the Moon. Each year, thousands of people participate at museums, schools, universities, observatories, parks, businesses, and backyards around the world. Anyone can participate. All you need to do is look up!

Homestead National Monument’s picturesque prairie is the perfect place to revel in the beauty of the Moon. Superintendent Mark Engler said “When reflecting on the wonder of the moon, one might ask themselves if it will be the future of Homesteading"

Homestead National Monument of America is a unit of the National Park Service located four miles west of Beatrice, Nebraska and 45 miles south of Lincoln. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free of charge.
