SCRANTON, Pa. - Steamtown National Historic Site (NHS) invites the public to “Stuff the Caboose" with non-perishable food items and bring some early holiday cheer to your neighbors. This free family event will take place on site from 5:00-7:00 pm on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019.
As Thanksgiving and other major holidays are just around the corner, Steamtown NHS, the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority, and other partners ask you to restock the United Neighborhood Centers of NE PA Food Pantry. There will be free musical entertainment, police and fire equipment, costumed mascots, and the Baldwin steam locomotive #26 and Lackawanna caboose #889 displayed with holiday lights. While you will warm the hearts of needy neighbors with your non-perishable food donation, you can warm your own tummy by roasting marshmallows over our “Ring of Fire," then enjoy gooey, delectable S’mores! There will also be the opportunity to make new memories or share those from long ago by sitting in and having your picture taken in the miniature train that used to operate at Nay Aug Park!
Help us “Stuff the Caboose" from 5:00-7:00 pm on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019!
