Kimberly, Oregon: The Thomas Condon Paleontology and Visitor Center in the Sheep Rock unit of John Day Fossil Beds will be open 10 am - 5 pm daily through Nov. 16, 2019. From Nov. 17, 2019, until Feb. 24, 2020, the visitor center will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. After Feb. 24, 2020, the visitor center will be open daily, 10 am - 5 pm, during the spring.
On Veterans Day, the visitor center will be open from 10 am - 5 pm. It will be closed during winter holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and President’s Day.
The park grounds, including the Sheep Rock, Painted Hills, and Clarno units, are always open from sunrise until sunset.
“Winter can be a great time of year to visit the park. Just be sure to plan ahead, watch the weather, and check current road conditions," says Superintendent Patrick Gamman.
