(Calumet, MI) Vistas and self-guided walking tours are open and accessible to all visitors of Keweenaw National Historical Park. Visitors can find useful resources for exploring the park on the park website and social media pages. Specific Heritage Site information can be found on individual site webpages or social media pages.
When considering a visit to a national park during Covid-19, the National Park Service (NPS) asks visitors to adhere to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state and local public health authorities to protect visitors and employees, including social distancing, mask wearing, and frequent hand washing. As services are limited, the NPS urges visitors to continue to practice Leave No Trace principles, including pack-in and pack-out.
Keweenaw National Historical Park staff are working with park partners to create visitor experiences that are in line with federal, state, and local health guidance. The Park will delay the opening of the Calumet Visitor Center until safety measures are in place to protect visitors, community members, partners, staff, and volunteers. Health and safety is our number one priority and the NPS is working with federal, state, and local authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. As this is a dynamic time, the National Historical Park will routinely reassess these decisions if there are changes to current public health guidance. Updates about NPS operations will be posted on www.nps.gov/coronavirus. Please check with individual parks for specific details about park operations
