On Thursday, Nov. 26, a fatal drowning occurred off McClures Beach in Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County. At approximately 4 pm, a 9-1-1 call was received about a child being swept by a wave into the ocean. Both California Highway Patrol and Reach One helicopters were dispatched to the scene along with National Park Service Rangers from Point Reyes National Seashore and personnel from Marin County Sheriff's Department, Marin County Fire Department Paramedic Unit, and U.S. Coast Guard.
A 4-year-old female was transported to Oakland Children's Hospital and was later pronounced dead. The father, who went into the water after his daughter, was transported to Petaluma Regional Hospital and treated for hypothermia.
