Summer Heats Up with June 1st Road Closures

Cobb County, GA (May 13, 2021) - Cobb DOT and Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority have projects that will require closing three roads this summer. All closures are expected to start on June 1, 2021 and continue through the summer. Roadside signage will be posted to warn drivers of the upcoming closures.

Cheatham Hill Road Closure: Kennesaw Mountain Pedestrian Improvements/Cheatham Hill Multi-use Trail (Cobb DOT Project X2404 - Districts 1 & 3)

This project includes construction of three multi-use trail segments along Whitlock Avenue, Cheatham Hill Road, and Burnt Hickory Road. The project is a collaborative effort among several local, state and federal agencies, including the Cobb County Department of Transportation, City of Marietta, National Park Service, Federal Highway Administration and the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Construction of the Cheatham Hill Road segment will require closing Cheatham Hill Road between Ward Creek Drive and Cavan Drive for the relocation of a 36-inch water line. The closure is expected to start on June 1, 2021 and last until Aug. 2, 2021. For more information on this project, please visit https://www.cobbcounty.org/transportation/projects/updates.
